Although she came from a Yakuza family, the Akemi of the past could be considered a contemporary Yamato Nadeshiko. She grew up learning calligraphy, tea ceremony, and Japanese dance like her father wanted, but her favorite was archery. She had a smooth childhood under her family's protection, but the disaster changed everything. It wasn't the Zombies, however, but humans, that eventually took everything she held dear. While fleeing the city, her father's men took advantage of the chaos to betray him. They injured his leg, causing him to succumb to the Zombie virus. Her father, who did not want to die as a Zombie, chose to end his life, and Akemi, who was with him, had to finish the job. As she severed his neck, she also severed her connection with her past self. She cut off her long hair, put on a hideous mask, and donned the gang's tattoos. Killing her enemies became her goal in life. Although she has chosen practicality over femininity in her clothing, she still seems to have a girlish side, as evidenced by her cute bunny charms.
