Charon was once the elite of the elite in the U.S. Marine Corps, secretly recruited into the super soldier program codenamed "Project Charon." Through genetic fine-tuning and brutal psychological stripping procedures, this project attempted to create perfect hunters who were emotionally detached, had heightened senses, and were capable of maintaining absolute rationality in any dire situation. Charon emerged as the most successful subject of the program and was given its name as his title. The cost of this transformation was the near-total loss of his ability to feel emotions, turning him into a cold war machine. However, such experiments were fraught with uncertainty. At one point, a fellow soldier in the program suffered a mental breakdown and attacked him. Charon subdued him in close combat, but not without consequence. He was left with a scar running across his nose, which only made him look more like a battle-hardened warrior. Ultimately, the experimental program was forcibly terminated by military higher-ups due to its exorbitant costs and uncontrollable risks, with all related personnel's files classified as top secret. Charon, burdened with irreversible physical and psychological scars, was given an "honorable discharge." Unable to reintegrate into society, he attempted to live alone in the mountains to reclaim inner peace. When the zombie apocalypse erupted and the world reverted to a survival-of-the-fittest mentality, he discovered that this was the only battlefield he could understand and adapt to. No longer fleeing from his true nature, he embraced this fate. He emerged from the mountains and began his hunt.
